Whenever I get the chance to visit South Australia, I’m overwhelmed with things I have to do, places I have to go, and people I have to catch up with. There is never enough time. But one thing I always make a point of doing, is driving far down the coast to a little rural paradise known as Victor Harbor. It’s where I spent countless summer days driving around aimlessly, stopping at surf spots, and practicing landscape photography as a teenager. It’s where I fell in love with the photographic process, and to this day it remains my absolute favorite part of the world to take pictures.
On this particular trip, I had company. Bec and Sam also have a love for this rugged and beautiful part of the coast. To them, Victor Harbor is a place to relax, unwind and focus on what’s most important to them… each other.
Sam is an extremely gifted athlete (professional Cricket)… He also happens to be my cousin. He’s one of those guys who amaze you with their talents, and everything seems so effortless. But I’ve always had this sneaking suspicion that in actual fact, he is addicted to hard work and practice. He is a true inspiration to anyone who has a goal in mind. Work hard at what you love, be patient, have faith and you will be successful.
When Bec came along, we all agreed that Sam was clearly batting above his average. Bec is a beautiful person, a joy to be around, and a great addition to the family.
Together, they are a perfect match. They’re exceptionally humble, they can both be shy, often playful, and sometimes they downplay their obvious obsession with one another when around others. But when we arrived at our shoot location, their chemistry changed. They stayed focused on each other, and never let the pressure from the camera interrupt their bliss. It was like I wasn’t even there.
We’re all extremely happy for them to be getting married next April. I will be there to help complete their story… and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have shared in this amazing day with them, in a place that is so special to me… and to Bec and Sam.
