As a wedding photographer from Adelaide, shooting destination weddings in the US for the past few years has been a surreal experience. Lately I'm finding it harder and harder to travel and leave my wife and one-year-old daughter behind... Travelling is the best and worst part of my job. So, in an effort to resolve this, I've started to bring the family along to explore the interesting places I get to go for weddings.
Most recently, we were in the mountainous Asheville area of North Carolina... It strangely reminded me of the Adelaide Hills that I'm used to, only much bigger, much colder, and more colorful. We were there for a late fall wedding, and I'm told we were lucky to see as many multicolored trees as we did. The leaves change quickly here, and so does the temperature. Never the less we found a high point to take in some of the landscape, and then we decided to take some portraits by a stream. It was a perfect day, and exactly the reason why I feel so fortunate to have my family by my side on these destination weddings (Rachel and Sal's wedding photos coming soon).
