Sometimes, when you strip back all the fluff and fuss of a wedding day, you end up with something even more real. Kim and Matt had grand destination wedding plans for a luxury South Florida wedding venue with hundreds of guests. But plans changed (as they tend to) and what they eventually settled on, could never be described as anything other than wholly BEAUTIFUL.
I've always said, if you're gonna get married in a city, you might as well get married in THE CITY.
And if you're gonna get married in a church, it might as well be the most iconic church, in the most iconic city. And as a traveling wedding photographer, it's always a treat to roam the NYC streets with couples who love and embrace the city for the gritty, chaotic and textured playground that it is.
St Patrick's Cathedral needs no introduction... and regardless on where you fall on the religion spectrum, it's hard to deny the atmospheric and physical beauty of the structure. Just being in the pews amplifies the raw emotion of every genuine moment.
Next up, while we're on the topic of iconic New York City locations, The Gramercy Park Hotel is another legendary spot which has an aura that's felt as well as seen. The night may have been intimate, but the celebratory mood was still so palpable.
Lastly, a note about Kim and Matt. In all the wrenches that have been thrown into all the wedding plans throughout the history of weddings (and wrenches), Kim and Matt handled their change of plans like absolute champs. And to quote Matt from sometime in between the reception finale and the after party, when all was said, and all was done "Everybody come back to our apartment! We got drinks, we got weed, and we got hummus!"
