As a destination wedding photographer, it's not every day you get to shoot a wedding for some good friends in your hometown! It was such a nice change of pace only having to drive 5 minutes to Benvenuto in Boynton Beach for the wedding... and to truly feel like you're celebrating right alongside people that you care about.
It just so happens that Alex and I first crossed paths years ago whilst shooting a wedding together (he is a super talented and accomplished videographer - check out Roman Films for yourself). But it wasn't just a love of cameras and content creation that brought us together... He's also a certified rockstar along with his enigmatic band mates at Fame On Fire (definitely check them out too). We've traveled together, and shared plenty of conversations about music, art, entrepreneurship and just life in general. And I am by no means exaggerating when I say that Alex is one of the most inspiring, hardworking, genuine and quality humans I've ever had the pleasure knowing.
I first met Mel (Alex's ride-or-die), it was immediately obvious to me that in Mel, Alex had a supremely supportive, loving, understanding and beautiful partner in his quest to make it big in the music industry. So it was no surprise that just a few short years after that day, not only were Alex and Mel planning their wedding... But Alex's band had indeed started to make a big splash in the music world. And Mel has also become instrumental in the success of their video business.
Cut to a few months before the wedding, and the three of us shared an epic trip up to NYC for part one of their wedding story. Which mainly involved me chasing these two ridiculously cool and attractive lovers around the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn with a whole bag of different cameras. It was an experience I'll never forget... not just because the photos we returned with are among my favorites ever... but also because I got to really see inside a relationship that is just so perfectly balanced and synchronized, that it really feels like these guys are a team.
Alex and Mel are proving to be unstoppable!
Needless to say their wedding was a party to behold, and the perfect illustration of their shared values, cultures, style and interests... and it was just plain fun documenting this day for them! I can't wait to see what Alex and Mel get up to next, and I'm beyond stoked to continue to being their friend, photographer and cheerleader. Go team! XX
