Sparrow and Keith are a couple... but they're also a traveling band (The Resonant Rogues). So when the opportunity arose to document a little bit of their relationship as well as a little bit of their musical history, I was absolutely stoked with the photographic possibilities this collaboration would present.
Now, anyone who knows me, knows I wish it were autumn all year round. The colors are unbeatable, and there's probably nowhere better to experience a north American fall than in the Smokey Mountains. So needless to say, this shoot had it all... Ultra creative and willing subjects, epic autumn scenery, and that ever present southern soul that you just kinda 'feel' when you're deep in Appalachia.
All this aside, the purpose of this shoot was actually three-fold. 1) A selfish opportunity to shoot in one of my favorite locations. 2) A chance to give these rouges some awesome new images for their band promos (and album cover as it turned out). And 3) Well, just because. What do I mean by that you say??? So it seems these days that the only reason anyone really feels that intimate and creative documentary of their relationship is worthwhile, is if it coincides with a big life event (say a marriage, engagement, anniversary or birth). BUT I for one think we don't celebrate the everyday awesomeness that the vast majority of our lives are made up of nearly enough. Think about it... It's bloody miraculous that you even exist. And if you're lucky enough to share your existence with another fortunate soul, then isn't the sheer chance of it all worth documenting from time to time?
If you agree, whether you're married or not, engaged or not, do yourself a favor and consider reaching out for a "Just Because Session". I'd love to adventure with you, hear your story and help you remember the little things!
