Backyard wedding's are always among my favorites to photograph. A wedding day is already so personal, but being in a beautiful and familiar place surrounded by the memories you grew up with just has a way of amplifying everything emotionally. Lexie and Phil chose to tie the knot somewhere beyond special. Affectionately known as 'the house that Dad built'. It stands overlooking Mount Barker in the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
Lexie is actually my cousin... So photographing this day was not only a chance to do what I love most... but also a chance to do it for people who mean a lot to me. I watched Lexie and her sisters grow up... I even vaguely remember skipping a day of school as a youngster to help my Mum babysit the three of them. Now, all grown up it's amazing to see the bond they have and how they were able to pull off an epic DIY wedding in their very own backyard.
Phil slotted perfectly in to our extended family years ago. And it was rare that I'd see Lexie without her man close in toe. They're made for each other in the realest way possible, and I think their chemistry is not only glaringly obvious to everyone that knows them, but it was also magical to photograph... I hope you'll agree!

Somerset Wedding Gal - Some really creative photography here, I love how you play with perspectives and framing, particularly looking at the bridesmaids getting ready through the window reflection.
